It was composed in by Lystra E. Gretter and a Committee for the Farrand Training School for Nurses, Detroit. It is often recited at graduation for nurses and included in programs honoring nurses during Nurses Day (May 6) and Nurses Week (May ). May is Florence Nightingale’s birth date.
